Shanghai Children’s Book Fair was up and running again this year, from 17 – 20th November, with most publishers not having been back since the 2019 event. Our sales team, MMS, were there in force and we were delighted they were able to showcase our books so successfully. This year humorous books have proved popular for Chinese publishers, something uplifting after the Covid years. Good news for Wacky Bee as all our books have an element of humour. SEL (social & emotional learning) titles also proved to be particularly popular, which, again, is good news for us with many of our fiction titles featuring SEL running hand-in-hand alongside strong storylines. “The rising demand for SEL titles is not surprising to me,” says MMS managing director, Tricia Macmillan. “The pandemic forced children out of the classroom and left them with little or no interaction with their peers. This directly affected their confidence and social skills.”
