Happy Birthday SRC!

On Wednesday 6th November, Queen Bee, Louise Jordan, had the pleasure of attending the 25th birthday celebrations of the renowned Summer Reading Challenge. Hosts, The Reading Agency, put on a magnificent event at The Terrace Pavillion, Houses of Parliament. There was fizz, sandwiches, balloons and, of course, cake! Welsh Poet Laureate, Alex Wharton, delivered a heartfelt speech about the power of reading and literacy for young people, and took part in a Q&A session with young pupils from Newnham Primary. From ‘Reading Safari’ to this year’s ‘Marvelous Makers” the themes have been many and varied. Wacky Bee is proud to have had four selections over the years…Dougal Daley: I’m Phenomenal by Jackie Marchant, The Curiosity Club: Alice Alone by Sally Harris, Double Felix by Sally Harris and Jacob’s Music by Katie Thomas.
